I've been to Nungwi before, and this was the second time I stayed at Kendwa Rocks. It was amazing! We stayed in Yemen, a suite bungalow just up off the beach. We had a great view, a.c., hot water and veranda with hammocks. Very relaxing.
The staff was friendly and helpful, especially the reception and restaurant staff. We organized our transportation by hiring a car from Stonetown, staff members gave us good recommendations about what to do there. (Ask for Duude for the Sunset, snorkeling and Mnemba trips) He is extremely helpful.
The best part about being there this time was...they have a new system with computerized charge cards. You can put a certain amount on the cards, or you can have them charge you at the end of your stay. We never had to worry about running around with our wallets and everything ran quite smoothly. This system is common at resorts in other parts of the world, but It's the only place I've seen it in ZNZ, and it seems to raise the quality of service.
We did try to have a sunset view and taking pictures of it with the boat just around the beach and the nearby islands, and were disappointed as we took too much alcohol and overslept. Too bad!
I would also highly recommend a snorkeling trip to mnemba with zanzibar water sports. they have an office right on the beach next to the the kendwa rocks restaurant. It was beautiful. We even saw dolphins on the way there! They provide lunch and equipment and I didn't try it but one of my friends also did some diving there and said it was fantastic.
Besides that, we enjoyed relaxing days on the beach and luckily were there for the full moon party--- a do not miss...Party in Zanzibar!!! I couldn't believe it; The people, music and the place was amazing experience!! People come from all over and it runs to the early morning. The DJs also were amazing when they added nasty words to put some flavor to the music they played as the crowd was showing signs of liking it. The best music came from Coconut FM (the local radio station) which is owned with the Clouds media group with the experienced DJs coming from Nairobi.

All in all, Kendwa is my favorite place on the island and I'll definitely be back as soon as possible.
